Who Is Kylie Jenner?

It’s hard to recall a time where gossip columns and magazine covers did not feature at least one member of the extensive Kardashian/Jenner family, but with the youngest member turning 18 its time to ask ourselves, “Who is Kylie Jenner?”

Growing up on camera in Los Angeles, at a young age Kylie was synonymous with her sister Kendall as the young trouble making sisters of tabloid favourites Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian who got their start on hit show ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’.

The Jenner sisters began their careers together, co-hosting numerous public events together such as at movie premiers; Glee: The 3D Concert Movie, The Vow and The Hunger Games. Both have also appeared on multiple shows together including; America’s Next Top Model, Deal With It and Ridiculousness.

In 2013, the twosome began collaborating with PacSun on their own line ‘The Kendall & Kylie collection’ as well as a jewellery line ‘Metal Haven’ for Pascal Mouawad’s Glamhouse. In 2014 the sisters were named on Times’ list of “The 25 Most Influential Teens of 2014” due to their influence on youths through social media. During this same year the pair co-published sci-fi novel ‘Rebels: City Of Indra’, co-hosted the 2014 Much Music Video Awards, appeared in PartNextDoor’s music video “‘Recognize’ with Drake, and launched a shoe and handbag line for Steve Madden’s ‘Madden Girl’ range. In 2015 the pair released their clothing line ‘Kendall + Kylie’ with popular British fashion retailer Topshop.

Kylie has began branching out by herself, releasing two nail lacquers ‘Spar-kylie’ and ‘Rainbow in the S-Kylie’ for nail polish brand Wear Something. In 2015, skin care line Nip + Fab announced her as their second ambassador following Millie Mackintosh, and she launched her own popular hair extension line ‘Kylie Hair Kouture’.

Though Kylie has achieved many different career accomplishments before even graduating from high school this year, much like her siblings she has become most well known for the recent string of controversies surrounding her. First was that her and Kendall’s book ‘Rebels’ was ghost written, a fact that their ghost writer kindly released a statement to clear up.

Then after a sudden increase in size, Kylies lips seemed to be the hot topic of conversation for what seemed to be months as people debated over wether or not she had used surgical enhancements underage, or if it was just really good lip liner. Spoiler alert: she had injections.

This led to a viral craze ‘The Kylie Jenner Challenge’, which focused on Kylie’s noticeable fuller lips, sweeping the internet for all of about three days. Individuals would simply suck a container around their lips until they swelled in size. Jenner (who had no involvement) received backlash as the practice was seen as dangerous and reckless due to the health risks involved.

Rumours surrounding Kylies relationship with rapper Tyga have been abuzz since before he ended things with Blac Chyna in August 2014. The couple were at the centre of an ongoing controversy as Tyga was 25 and Jenner only 17, celebrities including Amber Rose and Kanye West weighed in on both sides of the argument. Although the couple continuously denied being romantically linked they were regularly photographed out together by the paparazzi as well as posting pictures of one another on their Instagram profiles. A year later after Kylie turned 18 their relationship was officially announced surprising exactly no-one.

As of this moment Kylie can been found posting raunchy selfies on Instagram, (and Snapchat, and Twitter, and Vine) as well as partying things up in the tabloids, but now she’s recently turned 18 we’re expecting to see a lot more of this Jenner.

“Try getting to know someone before making assumptions.” – A pretty apt quote from Kylie.
