With season eight of Rupaul’s Drag Race gearing up, featuring the 100th episode and 100th queen, we’ve decided to take a look back at all of our favourite queens that created the show.
The ranking order came from determining a number of factors: Personal opinion, their performance during the competition, the success the encountered following the show, and what they offered to drag as a whole.
88. Magnolia Crawford
Magnoooooooooooooolia Crawford. That contour, girl! That contour is the reason you’re ranked the worst queen of all time. That sounds harsh, perhaps the least best? There could have been potential here as we didn’t mind her entrance, we could have even lived with the contour. What we can’t live with is a self-wollowing queen. Moaning about the challenge, her critiques from the judges, her fellow queens. Get over it and have some fun.
87. Sasha Belle
Poor Sasha had to lip sync against Katya of all people! She stood no chance, but even so she gave nothing in terms of entertainment. Her dress was ill-fitting, her huge unstyled hair looked straight out of the packet and her sense of humour was just not there. All of her looks were terrible, and nothing about her was memorable.
86. Venus D-Lite
The fact that Venus has had extensive work done to her face to look like Madge, given the way she does look is kind of sad. The fact she ran her mouth yet couldn’t get passed the first challenge, sad. The fact she felt the need to push and shove during a lip-sync, sad. Her desperate attempts to cling to the show and drag her fellow queens, sad, sad, sad. Venus is just a sad queen.
When you walk into a room and another queen is wearing the exact same look as you, wig included, it’s time to ask yourself if you need to step up your creativity. She was sent packing as she struggled to face the camera on an acting challenge, girl you’re already on tv; how hard can it be to grasp? Her outfits were out there but her lip-sync lacked creativity.
84. Serena Cha Cha
While Serena did not gain much screen time on the actual main show, if you were a fan of Untucked you will no doubt have seen her clock the reading of her life as she labelled all her queen mates as “ghetto” only for them to come for her one after the other until her edges were officially snatched. She gained a bad rep for being dumb and insensitive, though apparently she’s grown now. One can only hope.
83. India Ferrah
India was half of the most controversial lip-syncs of drag race herstory, however she was on the losing side. Although she was the one to stay, fans only remember Mimi tackling her and not that it was infact India up there screaming: “GET HER OFF OF ME!” Her looks lacked a certain cohesion, though she worked that breastplate!
82. Jade Sotomayor
What is there even to say about Jade, she was just sort of there in the comp. While she was by no means the worst, she was not close to the top either. I will say her untimely elimination caused a chain of events that saw Rebecca place third and Ongina shafted. Other than that she was totally hot out of drag and has improved as a performer in the years since.
81. Kelly Mantle
Justice for Kelly Mantle! We get that a queen always has to go first, but it seems so unfair to cut them off after a total of 3 minutes of screen time! Coming into the comp, Kelly seemed like she had some potential with great references and a few zingy jokes. Alas, she was cut bye, girl!
80. Alisa Summers
Alisa was so sure of herself winning the show, we almost felt bad for her being the first to get the boot. A truly fishy queen with a talent for reading it was her tragic runway style with an ill fitting breastplate that was her downfall. Though we did learned a lot more about her than many of the other queens eliminated fist such as how she was arrested in drag! Since the show she has shown she is a queen worthy of your time with improved make up and outfits.
79. Kenya Michaels
One of the few queens to be eliminated twice in one season, Kenya was fish to be sure, but couldn’t quite hack the challenges. Her Beyonce impersonation was beyond words awful. Though her personality around the work room was fun, she didn’t add much to the overall season. Plus, bringing her back after 5 episodes, what is the point? She was eliminated as quickly as she returned. She is now one of the few trans queens to emerge from the show.
78. Tempest DuJour
Camp and kitschy, Tempest may not have lasted very long but she gave us one of the greatest entrances of all time with her fake baby. She also had the nerve to rock crabs on the runway, loves it. Since the show she has given us more tacky looks than we can handle, though they’re fun it’s just not our cup of tea.
77. Lashauwn Beyond
Never has a queen had such a dramatic fall from grace as this contestant, as she came straight out of the gate as the one to beat with an impressive performance in the initial challenge and a sickening runway look. Cut to episode two and she faltered entirely with a hideous bubblegum gown that sent her packing. She does get points for uttering the epitomous phrase “This is not RuPaul’s Next Best Friend Race!”
76. Mariah Balenciaga
Mariah was a spitfire, her spunky personality and bolshiness caused for a number of amazing moments through the short time she was there including: “Gimme my pocketbook, I’m leaving.” While she did not fare well in the challenges, it was always impressive to see how put together she was during her runway looks with some of the most stunning moments of the show. Time and again she brought the eleganza.
Milan was not that bad you guys! She gets alot of stick but her runway looks were always quite interesting, I for one loved the suit option. She did not fair well in challenges often leaving her in the bottom two, yet her lip-syncing abilities were crazy, helping her make it through a good chunk of her season. A high energy performer she sent two bitches home before finally sashaying herself. Her taint swiffer performance is a personal favourite.
74. Nicole Paige Brooks
The only reason Nicole Paige Brooks makes it this high on our list is the simple reason she made it into the AAA girls song! She had a big personality yet struggled with many of the challenges, she was fishy (for season 2) yet her outfits were lacking. Plus, we love the iconic “send them all home”.
73. Honey Mahogany
Honey Mahogany gets extra points for featuring in the first ever double elimination of the show, but honestly she was entirely forgettable in her season. She is mostly remembered for always wearing caftans and with that figure whyyy? She has certainly figured out her look in the years since reading true fish, and even released an EP. Good for her.
72. Mystique Summers Madison
Mystique was such an entertaining queen to watch on the second season that we almost forgot how low she actually did place. In her short time on the show she made a name for herself as a bitch you dont want to mess with thanks to her fight with Morgan on untucked. She also left us with a plethora of quotes including “Cheeseburger, Taco Bell and a Diet Coke on the side girl!” despite this she could drop it like it’s hot on stage with her impressive split. Though poise, not so much.
71. The Princess
When this queen arrived we thought we were in for something spectacular, she had a unique look and an alternative sense of syle. With so much potential it was disappointing she turned out to be an early cut after failing to work her persona around the challenges. Her looks also weren’t as imaginative as we would have hoped. She has fixed that in the years since with breathtaking couture pieces and stunning wigs.
70. Madame LaQueer
I love a good camp queen, and LaQueer is that in spades, though I had only wish she gave a little more and stuck around. She had a lot of potential, her face was always beat, her looks were out of this world and her personality was fun and exuberant. A fierce lip-syncer, she was one of the few larger queens to dabble in the avant garde style, and her style since has improved tenfold.
The original villain of the show, she crafted a niche that would follow in every season since. Lumped into that particular role she played it perfectly: “Every competition needs a bitch, and that bitch is me and I’m happy with that. I tell it how it is and I’m fierce!” With body for days she never missed an opportunity to wear something sexy and her legacy lives on with her tumble on the runway that she turned into an epic spin.
Sonique taught us that the modern day pop stars just don’t have the personalities of the oldies as she performed a one-dimensional version of Gaga that sent her packing. Her lip-sync abilities were incredible, causing a tight race with Morgan. During the reunion Sonique was the first queen to announce she was transitioning, she now lives as a woman ‘Kylie’ and has made the rounds on tv, aspiring to act.
67. Laneysha Sparx
Another filler queen, Laneysha ticked all of the boxes. She was fishy, her runway looks were pretty and she was a good performer. When pushed to the limit with the calibre of queens on the show she just could not hack it as she kept it in the middle ground. While there was nothing bad about her she did not shine as brightly as some of the others. She’s still on the scene working for her dollar.
66. Sahara Davenport
R.I.P to our queen, we were shocked to hear of Sahara’s passing, and were saddened by her untimely passing. On the show she struggled with many of the clannges, although won three times in one episode. She spent most of her time in the bottom 2, but her impressive lip-sync ability kept her around until she finally had to go. She was a decent queen, in a beautiful relationship with Manila Luzon.
65. Vivienne Pinay
Vivienne looked gooood, she was fish but also had an interesting look. One of the few queens to be told “stop resting on pretty”, it’s actually quite a compliment. Her looks were sexy and cute, but her personality had far more oomph than that as she was not a bitch to be messed with. Since leaving she focuses mainly on makeup tutorials so hopefully others can clock her mug too.
64. Jasmine Masters
Jasmine Masters had body for days and a personality that would not quit as her voice always echoed above the crowd. Unfortunately her skills were limited, and she was not polished enough to match with her many years in the industry. She was a nice personality that added a bit of spark, but has since took to slamming the show and its calibre of queens.
63. Victoria “Porkchop” Parker
This is some old school drag right here, competing in the first season she gave us the experience needed to bring back what drag was all about: getting dolled up as a girl and having some fun! She was unapologetically herself, with a look she had crafted over several years, but this could not translate into the different challenges. The first ever queen eliminated she has sure left a lasting impression.
62. Penny Traition
With a name like that we wanted so much from Penny! Her makeup was beyond belief, her outfits fun, and her ability to throw shade unparalleled. A Facebook voted queen, she had a lot to live up to yet couldn’t quite make it as she was the first eliminated! Her lip-sync was particularly painful as pulled the old school move of turning her back to the audience when she forgot a lyric, which just so happened to be the entire song.
61. Monica Beverly Hillz
Monica was not a particularly strong queen, but she ranks so highly due to her emotional and courageous decision to come out as trans during a judging before smoking Serena in a lip-sync. The following week she fell into the bottom two once more, sent packing by Coco. Since leaving she has become one of the most beloved alum working within the LGBQIA community, speaking out against transphobia as a gay rights activist.
60. Jade Jolie
Jade Jolie had a terrible sense for fashion, that is for sure, as her runway looks were one over-designed mess to another, but what Jade did bring was a sense of cattiness that was unparalleled. Her hobby for shit-stirring and trash talking the other queens were unparalleled, contrasting entirely to her sweet as pie looks. Her Taylor Swift persona also wasnt that bad. In the years since she has seriously stepped up her drag game and is still doing T-Swizzle looks.
59. April Carrión
We hate cutting gorgeous queens early, but April just didn’t have what it takes to be a drag superstar. She’s fishy to death, with a body that won’t quit. Her outfits were all stunningly put together, that umbrella is amazing. Yet, that and a sweet personality is all she seemed to have to offer. (I checked out her Insta to see what she’s up to now and was side tracked for a good 15-minutes, check it out. She’s beautiful in and out of drag)
58. Mrs. Kasha Davis
“There’s always time for a cocktail” it takes a certain queen to hold a catchphrase even after such an early elimination, but Kasha was that kind of girl. An older queen, her influences with great and varied from Bewitched to Judy and Liza, she really grasped the fun and humour drag could bring. Though she gave the challenges her all, her looks were not up to scratch as she was more of a filler queen than competitor.
Vivacious gave us something we hadn’t seen on Drag Race before as she was a true club kid her looks were always something new and interesting as she brought her own dying culture to the main stage. While her outfits were always a spectacle, she struggled in the challenges, including a particularly awkward acting scene. Outside of the show Vi can truly thrive with her gender bending looks, bringing them to a new fanbase. Side Note: Ornacia for All Stars.
56. Kandy Ho
Kandy Ho was such an underrated queen it’s painful. Her runway looks were always beautiful and she had painted herself the house down. Absolutely stunning, she did well in challenges and was a phenomenal lip-sync performer. Despite her talents, the show cut her screen time down immensely making it hard for her to find a fanbase. Outside of the show she is able to display her full self and tear the house down.
55. Morgan McMichaels
Drag daughter to Chad Micheals, Morgan had a lot going for her but it was hard to get over just how harsh her face was painted! Mix that with cheap wigs and costume-like runway looks and she wasn’t destined to last long. Her dance moves during her lip-syncs was fun and her commitment to the tracks strong enough to make her a true competitor.
54. Rebecca Glasscock
Rebecca Glasscock became a phrase following her season, definition: to make it further than you deserve. Watching the show there was always a sense she did not belong in that esteemed finale alongside her competitors. She was blasted as a fake, could not walk in heels and was mean, but not in a campy tongue in cheek way, like actually really nasty. As of now, she’s not doing much other than live tweeting Drag Race.
Tatianna did not get the respect she deserved. As a young queen the others looked down on her for not being polished or fierce enough for the comp, yet she prevailed landing a respectable fourth place. While her runway looks were nothing extraordinary, it was an early season so her fishy looks kept her around as she became the poster child for passable drag. She exuded confidence and gave a mean Britney Spears impression.
52. Delta Work
Delta became one of the more successful big girls in the competition with her inclusion in the ‘Heathers’ group alongside the best in the competition. Though she was big she brought it with her runway looks and was painted to perfection. She was known on the show for her frank attitude, sarcastic humor and confrontational sass. She’s still working with the best of the alum in club around the US.
51. Stacey Lane Matthews
Stacey was a beautiful trash queen; equal parts poise and grace as well as humorous and messy. Though she was not a front runner in the comp, she won fans over with her shy, endearing demeanour in a season of constant shade and bitchiness. Her strange looks and odd humour gave a multitude of gag-worthy moments through her short stay.
50. Gia Gunn
We come to the boom boom gun. Gia was known for her ditzy personality, obnoxious friendship with Laganja and replying “absolutely” to absolutely anything. Beyond that she is a truly fishy queen with a wardrobe of gorgeous gowns. She did well out of her comfort zone, such as playing the comedy queen and her lip sync’s are beyond good. She’s currently co-starring in a tour with bestie Ganja.
49. DiDa Ritz
Sometimes it just takes that one moment to make a queen iconic, Dida earned this when she lip-synced ‘This Will Be’ in front of Natalie Cole, creating one of the greatest moments of the show for years to come. As a queen though her looks just weren’t up to scratch for the competition and her performance lacking. To this day she is still tweeting daily about that one performance, bless.
48. Mimi Imfurst
She may have been eliminated in the third episode, but that gave us one of the most iconic moments of the season. The first physical altercation between queens in a lip sync. While her performance on the show was lacking she redeemed herself with an absolutely hilarious stand up routine in BOTS.
47. Jaidynn Diore Fierce
Jaidynn was a strange old queen, she was comedy yet not quite that hilarious, more comical. She was fierce serving looks, yet always a little tacky too. However, the personality was on point as fans were drawn to her whimsical nature, one-liners and backstory. Her lip-sync’s were incredible and her persona fun and sweet.
46. Jiggly Caliente
Jiggly was our resident trash queen, each outfit she wore and her skill for painting her mug got crazier each episode leading to memorable looks, for all the wrong reason. Though she is best known for struggling in the challenges, her lip-syncs were crazy good as she had serious moves for a larger queen. Her unusual personality and looks made her a fan favourite even to this day. She is now one of the few trans queens.
A Las Vegas queen, debuting in the first season Shannel was quite a shocking queen always flashing the skin in a number of visually spectacular outfits. Her personality was blunt, even leading to her putting herself up for elimination. She came back for All Stars later, still the same hard-headed over the top queen. She made top four again, though this time Chad carried her.
44. Coco Montrese
Coco’s main storyline was her feud with Alyssa, and with her rivals personality, Coco was seen as the antagonist overshadowing her talent. A seasoned professional her lip syncs were bomb, and her runway looks totally out there, yet her performances in the challenges paled in comparison leading her to hold the record for most times in the bottom two. Miss Gay America 2010is still working often.
43. Carmen Carrera
Carmen was one of the most fishy queens in Drag Race her story and her decision to transition drew much media attention and supporters, only for them to turn against her once she began bashing the show for its use of slurs. Nevertheless her drag was good, and her runways excellent. As of now she is working as a spokesperson for the trans community.
42. Ivy Winters
The lowest ranking Miss Congeniality on our list, Ivy surprised us when she beat out heavy competition for the esteemed title. A former clown, her talents truly are varied. Known for making all of her own outfits, she once stunned us by walking out on stilts! She’s still working the scene, and creating outfits for celebrity queens such as Lady Bunny and Manilla Luzon.
41. Joslyn Fox
Joslyn Fox was perhaps best known for her love of one too many accessories and an ass that wouldnt quit. A total fishy queen her hair and make up were always on point, though her dress sense, not so much. She rode the middle for most of the competition with her eye more on Miss. Congeniality than the actual crown. Unfortunately some say she was robbed of that title due to some shady timing. Nevertheless she embodies sweetness and ditziness to a tee.
40. Phi Phi O’Hara
Phi Phi is perhaps the greatest villain the show has seen, never missing an opportunity to start drama or talk shit about her co-stars. This caused viewers to write her off as a competitor, yet she demonstrated some great looks and decent performances in challenges, landing her in the top 3. Since she seems to have mellowed out a bit, now displaying 365 looks this year.
39. Shangela Laquifa Wadley
How you gonna come back for a second season after being eliminated first? I want to know the story behind that one! Even so it’s a good job as this one gave us our first look at the house of Edwards. With Laganja and Alyssa that is literally the craziest house of all time. She was kind of the joke character but that’s why we love her. Halleloo!
38. Trinity K. Bonet
She was unable to give Bianca an answer when asked “What do you do successfully?” She was clearly a struggling, unpolished queen back in her season, but in the years since has really perfected her act. She came out as HIV during the show and now even fronts her own LGBT charity.
37. Miss Fame
Glamour. Pure glamour, her head may not be great but her hair is; and that’s what really matters, right? Not only were her runway looks stunning, and intricate, they were always a little out of the box. She is the queen of make up and demonstrates it on her new YouTube series. Her album debut exceptionally well and she’s working all over the world.
36. Laganja Estranja
Laganja gets a lot of flack from viewers for her theatrical personality, constant breakdowns and shady attitude, but stripped of that she is a force to be reckoned with. A talented dancer her lip sync’s are always an event, and her performances in challenges are exceptional. With enough time passed she now manages to work around the clubs, even scoring a VMA gig with Miley Cyrus.
35. Darienne Lake
Take a dip in Daienne Lake, another amazing big girl queen. She was never without a joke to drop on us, and besides a few runway catastrophes her style was usually alright. She was given the villain edit of the season, as someone has to be but was actually a decent performer. Let her live, guys.
34. Jessica Wild
Drag Race’s third finest Puerto Rican queen, she was a dancer, choreographer, makeup artist and singer making her a force to be reckoned with in the comp. She looked fierce, could perform and served fish. She was best known for her killer runway looks as well as her sweetness and charm off stage. Her language barrier was the undoing of her, like many queens who speak English as their second language it played heavily in her elimination.
33. Alexis Mateo
Drag Race’s second finest Puerto Rican queen, Alexis placed higher than Yara, yet we preferred the latter. A pageant queen, she was all about poise and sophistication, her runway looks were always eleganza and she was funny on top. She had a mixed bag with the challenges, winning in three and losing in three. Though her lip sync talents were unrivalled.
32. Yara Sofia
Drag Race’s finest Puerto Rican queen Yara Sofia shifted perfectly between glamour and camp, comedy and class. Her runway looks were always beautiful and her stand up routine was totally hilarious. With a face painted for the Gods, her looks could kill, yet she was an adorable personality who scooped Miss. Congeniality. She still out there earning her coins, playing shows with her sisters.
31. Pandora Boxx
Miss Congeniality of season 2, Pandora was not shy in dishing out the laughs as the appointed comedy queen of the season, and the first true one to feature on the show. She was another queen to be screwed over in All Stars as she was stuck with Mimi Imfurst, getting eliminated first. Though other queens take the mick out of her, she is still a name on the scene working consistently.
30. Tammie Brown
You’ve got to give it up to Tammie Brown, for the amount of episodes she was in she certainly made a lasting impression. Truly an enigma her look was odd and her sense of humour even more so. A true scene stealer, every moment she was on screen was a classic. Since leaving she was invited back on All Stars, despite her low placement on the show and has been working the clubs, releasing music and popping up in movies ever since. “I don’t see you out there walking the children in nature
29. Tyra Sanchez
The lowest ranking winner on list, Tyra was a great queen, just not the best of her season. While her stage presence was not to be rivalled her personality was severely lacking as she refused to mix with her competitors. Though she has polished her look since winning, she has also had her share of controversies. Including an arrest!
With a show about drag queens competing for a crown on television, many were given their first insight into the underground phenomenon. Ongina’s story was what really gave the series weight and allowed people to open up to the idea of the show and to drag queens. Scoring multiple wins she was a force to be reckoned with. Her sparkling personality, tiny height, and trademark bald head caused her to stand out among her competitors. She later hosted a televised HIV event.
27. Bebe Zahara Benet
The first ever winner, Bebe was always poised and elegant as she stormed her way through the comp and while she was great at the time, she has far been preceded by the new kids. With many years of performing in preparation she made quite the impression, holding up as a strong choice for the first to earn to crown.
26. Roxxxy Andrews
A pageant queen and part of the successful Rolaskatox, Roxxxy was not to be messed with as a performer delivering one of the most memorable lip-sync moments of all time as she revealed her second wig. Painted, and dressed to kill she was a competitor for sure, but her snarky personality made her likability to the public harder. In the years since she has lost a tonne of weight and looks good.
25. Kennedy Davenport
Another queen the public loved to hate, Kennedy was a tried and tested performer with years of experience under her belt. A pageant queen, she was always put together and ready to show it off. Her lip-syncs and dance abilities were out of this world, and her impressions on point. Though her skills were not to be questions, her humour and personality was nice quite up to scratch.
Sweet Max really got screwed over by production. Her aesthetic was gorgeous, but the competition was too diverse for her niche persona. Her kind heart and classy personality garnered her a strong fan base, yet she did not last in the race. While she was not the greatest at all challenges, she own her theatrics.
23. Pearl Liason
Let’s be real, a lot of Pearl’s popularity is down to her looks. The best looking guy to enter the comp, she also looked beautiful in drag. Her outfits were always on point and her face painted hard! She was too cool for school as she argued with Ru and had an unusual muted sense of humour. As of now, he is touring the world as a successful DJ.
Compared to other queens on this list Milk did not fair very well in the competition, despite this she gave us a plethora of looks to last us. Basically the Lady Gaga of queens, she gave us something different and unexpected each episode. The comp was far too limiting for her, since leaving she has been able to truly show her creativity. Also, he is gorgeous.
21. Trixie Mattel
Trixie drew heaps of controversy as she was unceremoniously cut from the comp early, even after being brought back she was sent home once more leaving her fans furious. She is the definition of camp. The make up, the hair, the clothes, the personality. Each are out of this world, over the top. Her comedy was second to none, and her lip sync’s flawless. She is now a regular on the stand up circuit.
20. Nina Flowers
We’re going right back to the beginning with this one, do you even remember season one? Nina Flowers was the stand out of the season with her androgynous look and unconventional style. Her thick accent and sweet personality drew us all in rooting for her to win. Since leaving the show she was screwed over on all stars, yet became a successful DJ.
19. Ginger Minj
Ginger got a lot of hate her season for her bitter personality and bitchy remarks, but putting that to one side she was a serious talent. A seasoned professional she killed every challenge and despite being a big queen served serious looks on the runway. A comedy queen her performances were big and full of character. Fresh off the show she is dabbling in music.
18. Ben DeLaCreme
Between Adore, Courtney and Bianca, there was no room on Season 6 for any other queen, but DeLa performed consistently and amazingly throughout. Though she won Miss. Congeniality she still lacked the attention her impressive performance deserved. She runs her own theatrical company, performs solo tours and has appeared in several films.
17. Detox Icunt
Detox got a little advantage prior to Drag Race as she had just begun a successful stint in DWV. Our plastic princess was never afraid to show us experimental fashion as she strutted down the runway and her flex-jaw caused for spectacular lip synchs. Never afraid to push the boundaries she’s not one to hold her tongue or play by the rules. Her reunion look was the greatest thing the show has ever offered.
16. Latrice Royale
Latrice Muthafuckin’ Royale. The level of unprofessionalism when he was eliminated was far too much! In a scene packed with huge personalities, his shone the brightest. His big, warm personality was enough to make any viewer melt, but don’t get it twisted he was quick to check a bitch. When Latrice is in the room he commands attention. Our favourite ever big girl and the best Miss. Congeniality.
15. Violet Chachki
Violet gets a lot of flack for winning over Ginger, Trixie and Katya, but she was an amazing queen with what she knew. A snatched body, beautiful hair and make up and stunning gowns. Her waist alone in winning material. She gives us equal parts old Hollywood glamour and S&M bondage. She may not be comedy but she can give funny with her bitchy quips and snarky comments.
14. Alyssa Edwards
Back rolls? You know you’ve made an impact as a queen when your old lines are referenced multiple times in future seasons. She even had her own impersonator in Snatch Game. She has almost become a face for the show with her endless iconic moments. Much of her feud with Coco was the main plot point of her season, as she was front and centre in the comp. Alyssa’s secret always gives us instantly gif-able moments and she is mother to two other dramatic queens: Laganja, and Shangela.
13. Jinkx Monsoon
Little Jinkx, a true underdog. Was there a person who didn’t fall with her sweet personality? Underestimated by her competition she brought it time and again, completely enihalating Detox with her lip-sync capabilities. A theatre performer, her old school references were endless and much appreciated. Since she has released two albums and gives an old-school Hollywood show for her fans.
12. Courtney Act
“She’s a girl! She’s a girl” – my friend insisted while I first introduced her to Drag Race. Perhaps the fishiest queen to enter the comp, she showed off her assets but did not ‘rely on that body’ as she demonstrated talents, comedy and fashion to boot. Since leaving the show she has released an album, works regularly and is even friends with Nicole Richie.
11. Chad Michaels
Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have extensive surgery to become great Cher impersonators. Possibly one of the greatest ever celebrity performers, she was expert in her craft but by no means a one-hit-wonder as her grasp reached far beyond this. A seasoned performer, ever fellow queens fawned over her brilliance.
10. Katya Zamolodchikova
Not winning the show really did wonders for Katya, as her fanbase became a force to be reckoned with and pleas of the masses called for her to be reconsidered. A comedy queen, she has perfected her craft with an imaginative niche character. Her demeanour is entirely inappropriate and crazy, yet when it comes to lip synchs her pussy is on fire!
9. Adore Delano
Bianca was undisputedly the worthy winner of Season 6, but Adore provided the heart. Relatively new to the game fans saw her grow over the episodes until she landed a place in the finale. Her drag still improves, and her album proves to be the most superior of her sisters as she tours the world preparing for her second. Adore is the definition of a dark horse.
Who doesn’t love Jujubee? She was the peoples champion with her self-depricating humour and adorably sensitive moments. There was a never a moment she was left speechless as a joke was always sitting at the tip of her tongue. She is the owner of the library not only with her venomous quips but her over the top facial expressions to suit. All this and she is total fish.
7. Manila Luzon
Miss Manila was polish. A true comedy queen she could have us dying with laughter one moment, but once she hit the runway she would always bring the glamorous looks. Perfectly balanced between the two she gave us two types of queen in one beautifully wrapped package.
6. Raja Gemini
There is never a moment that Raja is not beat for the Gods. Her runway looks still remain some of the greatest to grace the show, and her flawless aesthetic has kept her as the bar by which other winners are measured. Not one to beg for the camera her personality drew intrigue from fans, as she demonstrated her wide range of skills. After working on Top Model for six years, her Tyra impersonation was hilar.
She was a no nonsense worker as she gave fierce make up and wickedly hot drag, her harsh persona may have gave fans the wrong impression if it was of her Rujubee friendship. Her softer side shone through, and she was soon the undisputed front runner of season 2. After placing runner up she competed once more with the same result. Fans begged for the day she would gain the crown she deserved, though she is doing okay for herself with steady work and a collab with World of Wonder.
4. Sharon Needles
While her success has waned in the years since, mostly down to diva-like behaviour and a penchant for dabbling in the offensive, it’s easy to forget how successful she was following her win. Her music transcended into popular culture, and her unconventional look drew attention from the media, even gaining a tweet from Gaga herself. She brought a different kind of queen to the show, and claimed victory in arguably the most difficult season. Plus, her Joan Rivers is beyond amazing.
3. Willam Belli
Willam cares about three things: 1. Shoes, 2. Bottoming and 3. Willam. Because of this she became our bad girl queen, currently the only to be disqualified. (for having unallocated sex too, God bless her) With a few guest spots on shows and a few designer gowns, she was truly feeling her fantasy and as she should given her enormous success following. Endlessly quotable with a fuck never in sight she has cemented her All-Star status.
2. Alaska Thunderfuck
While competing, Alaska fought hard to rid herself of boyfriend Sharon Needles shadow, and she did so in abundance. Never falling into the bottom two, she narrowly lost out on the crown to Jinkx. Following the comp and away from ‘Rolaskatox’ she became everyones fave with her kooky humour and killer music. True slayage.
1. Bianca Del Rio
Does any queen even come to close to snatching this bitches title? She is a self confessed comedy queen whose rolodex of hate is always stocked! You’ll never catch her in a weak moment as she is always on. She is so secure in her abilities that she will even lend a helping had to her competition. Following the show she has been working consistently with her stand up tour, as well as creating her own movie Hurricane Bianca.
