Your Strictly Come Dancing 2016 Line Up!

Back for its 14th season Strictly Come Dancing has finally unveiled its full line-up, while the names involved aren’t superstars we have a good mix of competitors to shake up this years competition.

1. Daisy Lowe

27-year-old Daisy Lowe has been a high profile model since her youth, walking for all the greats she has worked with Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton among others, while covering magazines GQ, Vogue, and Elle. The daughter of musicians Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale, she also brags having Gwen Stefani as her step-mom meaning she grew up around music, so should have a dancing edge to her competitors.

2. Judge Rinder

Better know as Judge Rinder, Robert fronts his own daytime court show akin to that of Judge Judy. One of two openly gay competitors this year he married his long time partner in a ceremony officiated by bestie Benedict Cumberbatch in 2013 while in Ibiza. He gained a First Class Honours degree at the University of Manchester in Politics & Modern History and went on to specialise in international fraud, money laundering and other forms of financial crime. We’re not sure how much that will help his quick step.

3. Anastacia

Anastacia was a pretty big deal back in the day with hits like Left Outside Alone and I’m Outta Love, nowadays her name doesnt bring quite as much weight, but she guest judged The X Factor a few years back which was…cool. Hopefully this will be bring another jam out of the American singer. The singular-named diva has proved her strength after being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age 13, breast cancer at age 34 and supraventricular tachycardia, at age 39

4. Danny Mac

Our eye candy for the season Danny Mac played the often shirtless Dodger from 2011 to 2015 on teen soap Hollyoaks. For his run he walked away with a whopping SIX sexiest male awards. More than just a pretty face, the actor understudied for Boq in Wicked for four years, so he’s sure to be more than prepared for the dance floor. Unfortunately he is engaged to his former co-star Carley Stenson. Groan.

5. Laura Whitmore

Laura Whitmore got her start in 2008 when she won MTV Europe’s Pick Me MTV campaign where she beat other contestants to become the face of MTV News in Europe. Between 2008 and 2015, she hosted news bulletins for the channel in Ireland, before becoming most well know for hosting I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! NOW! for four years until now. We’re sure her charisma will help her through.

6. Louise Redknapp

Though she is perhaps best known as Jamie Redknapp’s wife Louise has had quite the career away from her partner. Through the 90’s she was part of successful girl group eternal, before leaving early to launch her solo career. Now a mother of two with regular work she was noticeably absent from the girl groups reforming on The Big Reunion. As a previous judge on the UK’s So You Think You Can Dance she should have a leg up on the competition.

7. Greg Rutherford

Olympic long jump record holder, Greg Rutherford boasts 6 gold medal, two silver and recently one bronze, courtesy of this years Rio outing! He is the record holder of both outdoor and indoor long jumps. While you may not be familiar with him as a celebrity, he’s a pretty big deal with a statue erected in his honour in his home town. All that athleticism should help him in the competition.

8. Lesley Joseph

Lesley Joseph is our oldest contestant this year, and a part of legendary sitcom Birds of a Feather, that has recently comeback to ITV. Since the show originally ended in 1998 she made the round in theatre, television and reality shows. Often appearing as a guest panellist on Loose Women, and This Morning she is very popular with viewers at home.

9. Will Young

Since winning Pop Idol in 2002, openly gay Will Young has enjoyed quite the successful music career. Between his six albums four hit number one, while the others charted at number two. His singles saw similar success, as did his six tours. Also dabbling in acting and writing books, he has many talents but we’ll see how his dancing stacks up. The public have crowned him the winner once before, so we’re rooting for him again!

10. Ed Balls

Ed Balls has held many roles in politics but is perhaps best known as the former Shadow Chancellor, or dressing up as a Nazi. As a member of parliament he came under fire for fiddling his expenses with his wife so they could afford a second house. This is not Balls first foyay into reality competition as he competed in Sport Relief Great British Bake Off. Mix that with his past as a competitive dancer and he may do better than expected.

11. Melvin Odoom

Standing 5″5 Melvin Odoom is a radio DJ, television presenter and comedian, who is perhaps best known as a team leader on the now debunked panel show Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff. Like many presenters he performed a stint on The Xtra Factor but was not invited back this year, explaining his appearance on the show. If you are the right age you may even remember him from Dick and Dom In Da Bungalow.

12. Naga Munchetty

Munchetty is perhaps our most esteemed contestant as a journalist and newsreader who has worked for BBC One’s BBC World News, BBC Breakfast and Victoria Derbyshire as well as presenting BBC Two’s weekday financial affairs programme Working Lunch. A natural winner she beat out the competition in 2013’s Celebrity Mastermind. She has a passion for playing piano and jazz, so hopefully will have the moves to boot.

13. Ore Oduba

Another journalist, Ore Oduba is a British television news and sports presenter, currently working for BBC Sport. He is best known for presenting the BBC children’s news programme Newsround from 2008 until 2014. With the Olympics on full steam, his presenting of the event is likely reason for his invite to the show. We’re not quite sure how he’ll shape up.

14. Tameka Empson

While she got her break in hidden camera show 3 Non-Blondes, Tameka Empson is no doubt best know for her role as the charismatic Kim Fox in Eastenders. She soon became a fan favourite winning several awards including “Funniest Female Performance”. With a similar audience, and a natural flair we’re sure she’ll be a success.

15. Claudia Fragapane

At just 18 years-old Claudia Fragapane is the youngest celeb this year. An artistic gymnast who competed at this years Olympics, she is most likely to be this years overall winner.
