We are now at the halfway point of the competition with just 6 designers left, and only 3 more to go until the finale!
This week the designers must again work as a group, creating a fashion line between them in preparation for the final challenge. Given how the teamwork went down last time it’s exciting to see what will happen now!
The design brief is designing for the year 2055 with materials from a vintage clothing store. Kevin was chosen as team leader from a random draw, much to the chagrin of his competitors.
While we don’t care about the model eliminations anymore, it is sad to see Morgan go. She’s given us more memorable moment than half of the designers themselves!
Michael Kors joined Heidi once more alongside Anne Slowly on the judging panel, alongside guest judge Betsey Johnson, fashion legend.
The following looks are ranked from my personal best to worst:
Kara had the star number of the show. The jacket was large and dramatic, with an interesting face cover, leather corset and . The unveil of a stunning outfit below the coat made the piece that much more special.
Austin put forward a beautiful garment, true to his aesthetic the two piece suit looked almost victorian with its puffed sleeves and cowl neck. The fabrics worked beautifully together and the outfit looked expensive.
Kevin had the most riding on this week being team captain and performed well. The jacket looked simple and polished, with the quilted material working beautifully against the khaki fabric. The only complaint is it being a little too simplistic.
Jay‘s outfit seemed to be the bridge between the group. It was a casual look reminiscent of Robert and Wendy, yet had a regal edge with the neck work. The shape of the garment looked amazing on his model, and the feathered shoulder detailing was beautiful.
Robert opted for a more bohemian look with baggy earth-toned trousers, and a floral top. The deconstructed gillet jacket and newscap made his model look like some form of sports player.
Wendy‘s piece looked most removed from the collection, while there were many regal outfits in the group her’s appeared to be most casual of the bunch. The camel, fringe skirt with calf-length boots conveyed too much cowgirl, and while the top half was decent, she seemed to be in a more apocalyptic future than the rest.
Note: Apologies for the poor photo quality, this was long before HD.
