This is it! Just one more episode until the grand finale, and its a good one!
Heidi gave the group their biggest challenge yet, to create a Grammy Award dress for Access Hollywood host Nancy O’Dell.
For such a big challenge Tim called in some extra help…Robert! Who knows why, but as the seasons hunk we’re not complaining. Despite being ‘there to help’ he spent the majority of the episode sleeping and drinking beer.
Kara and Wendy butted heads after choosing similar fabrics, and Wendy got further riled up after Jay professed his opinion that Kara will win overall.
The three remaining designers, minus Robert, were all invited to Michael Kors’ fashion studio. As he guided them around past red carpet gowns he had created, it was hard not to hear the ring of ‘promo’ though the screen. Though it was interesting to gain an inside look as to what the designers are aspiring to.
The judges alongside Heidi for this episode were once again Michael Kors and Nina Garcia alongside guest judge Nancy O’Dell.
The following looks are ranked from my personal best to worst:
Wendy‘s dress was cute, the bust, and back were both interesting and the feathers were fun but it was far to simple overall. The hem of the shirt was not treated at all and looked tacky overall.
Kara‘s outfit was surprisingly lacklustre. The colours and design seemed interestingly Indian inspired, and the fabric was beautifully but the execution was poor. The fabric of the trousers were puckering, and there was altogether too much fabric.
Austin‘s creation was beautiful and well crafted, but just did not fit with what Nancy had specified. The colours were beautiful and melded well together and the fabrics lay beautifully. That said it was not Grammy appropriate and as the judges commented, lacked creativity.
Jay‘s dress was well made, but the vision just was not there. I’m not sure if it was a 2004 style but I couldn’t get into it. The top was well fitted, but was titled ‘matronly’.
Note: Apologies for the poor photo quality, this was long before HD.
