While two designers have packed their bags already, we’ve only just got into the actual competition, and the competitors are giving the clothes off their back to get ahead.
We’re back to the model picks but this time they’re stuck with the models for the rest of the show! Thank God! Also, I just noticed Heidi’s pregnant, she’s doing a good job at concealing the bump like a true #supermodel.
The designers all move into their new pad and theres a mix of besties and enemies brewing already, as with what comes with roommates. They all get dolled up for a special party thrown by Heidi, with a twist. Their impromptu challenge sees them take the clothes off their back to use in their latest design!
Soon we get tears about how sentimental and expensive the clothing is, but Santino said it best saying there’s nothing that would hold him back from progressing in the competition. This crop of contestants seem to really struggle with time management, especially *shocker* Daniel F!
Our three judges are back with legendary Diane Von Furstenberg, showing that we finally got a budget for season two!
The following looks are ranked from my personal best to worst:
Santino kept his lead from the first challenge with a truly remarkable transformation. Turning his prized leather jacket into a skirt, he created a beautiful shape for a rock chick look. He also worked the ribbed top astoundingly.
Guadalope was hecitc once again, but this time it actually paid off. With the material she had to work with she went that extra mile in reworking the material in a zesty fashion. The high use of colours and gimmicks all seemed to work well in this look.
Daniel F performed astoundingly reworking his mens jacket into a beautifully tailored ladies jacket. The skirt was also well made, but that jacket was the highlight.
Chloe managed to reinvent her dress into a completely new garment with use of her jacket, and the piece actually looked better afterward! The back was cute and flirty, and the colours worked very well together.
Kara created a really strong look. The dungarees were an odd shape, but it worked overall. She really made an effort with the top, and crafting a hat from her jacket was an inspired idea. She really made the most of her raw materials.
Nick created a true rock fantasy. The leather skirt was crafted beautifully and the odd-shapen vest was something new and inspiring. The look worked very well paired together, and the extra touches really elevated it.
Zulema‘s sweater dress was actually a decent garment with good vision and a great execution, the only let down was the embarrassing back! She did not have enough material to properly cover the models behind and failed to improvise.
Marla really did transform her outfit. The doily ruffles around the denim vest was questionable, but the skirt was a great look and fit. Albeit a little short. She definitely came through on the brief.
Andrae‘s creation of his denim dress turned out very well. It was fun and cool enough but the red straps really set the look off. I love that the judges tore down his breakdown though.
Daniel again was kind of boring. The reworking of his scarf into a vest was good, but the cargo jacket into a skirt looked god awful. Taste level aside, he put forward decent work.
Diana‘s outfit looked alot better until you realised it was already crafted from a dress. The bottom was beautiful as the two materials worked well in unison and there was a lot of movement, the top half yeesh.
Raymundo failed to challenge himself. He turned his polo top into a polo vest, reworked his jeans into three-quarters and took the sleeves off his jacket. He basically used the structure of his original outfit, and i’m confused as to why he was safe.
Kirsten let herself down the moment she refused to use her scarf in the challenge. The top she made was a simple rework of her own top, but the skirt was actually nice. If she had worked the scarf into a top she would have actually had a strong look.
Emmett somehow managed to escape elimination, and was actually safe for the week! He turned a shirt into a dress, which looked fine enough but lacked originality. The kicker, that denim shawl! She literally looks like she’s wearing his jeans!
Note: Apologies for the poor photo quality, this was long before HD.
